5D Mark II Click Pic for Canon

This is my next gear goal. I speculated about the 6D, but the 5D Mark II makes more sense, to follow in the footsteps of the 1D Mark series, which is another constant droolism for me. I know I’m not to that level yet. Where I could (assuming I had that much money) throw down a smooth 8K for a 1Ds Mark III body.  Ouch!

The new 5D Mark II seems like it will be the best of both worlds.  Full frame like the 1Ds, 21.1 mega pixels like the higher end cameras. Some nice updates that the 50D has sported, including a self cleaning sensor, and dust detection software. The new Digic 4 processor.  At first glance however, I’m a little disappointed at the frames per second rate of the 5D Mark II, at 3.9.  The 1Ds Mark III shoots at 5fps, and the 50D a cool 6.3fps.  I currently get about 5 with my 20D. I don’t shoot a lot of high speed events, so it’s not something that I’m worried about.

I’m really excited about some of the other updated features, including the expandable ISO range, from 50-25800. When I shoot live music, the ultra noisy 3200 I currently have is outdated for sure.  I certainly don’t expect perfection from high ISO numbers, but I’d love to be able to play with something higher than 3200.
