Lens Confusion

I’m on overload. Ever think you know exactly what lens you want? Only to change your mind 100 times? That’s where I’m at.

My current set up is a Canon 20D body. I have a Canon 50mm 1.8, Sigma 28-70mm 2.8, and Sigma 70-300 4.5 (I think) & a Tamron 1.4x Teleconverter. I love the 50mm, but am completely unsatisfied with the two Sigmas. They were great lenses for me, when I first bought my 20D, they allowed me a decent range from 28-300mm, so I could decide what kind of photography I was interested in. I’ve learned that I’m basically a lazy photographer. You’ll see me leaning against something, or holding my breath, as opposed to carting a tripod around for super sharp pictures.

So the contenders are the Tamron 11-18mm, Canon 10-22mm, and then I’m also considering the Canon 16-35mm L 2.8, which would be great for some lower light situations, and the lower priced 17-40mm Canon L 4.0.

I enjoy landscape photography, and i’m always jonsing for a wider view, which I know the 10-22 would give me. But that’s an EF-S lens, and would be useless when I ever upgraded to a full frame cam (6D?). I really want to get into the L lens market. Sealed, waterproof, and obviously better glass. Also, the L’s would upgrade to a full frame camera. I’m opting for the 16 or 17mm, which would be more than sufficient on a full frame, but i’m wondering if I’ll be satisfied with it on my 20D. It would make an awesome walk around lens though, which is really something I’m looking for.

GEAR!
