Life in Wasilla Alaska

Mission Accomplished

Daylight : 7:41 a.m. - 6:41 p.m

I don’t know why as you get older, things seem to take more time.  Or maybe time passes faster, not sure.  Maybe both?

I set a personal goal for myself of getting up earlier, and trying to make it to the gym before work.  Not a difficult task right? Anyone who knows me, knows I’m just not a morning person. Given the choice, I would probably sleep until 11am everyday, later on the weekends.  As many 9-5′ers know, staying motivated long enough to go to the gym after work isn’t that easy.  You get home, maybe grab something to eat, and then couch potato’ism sets in.

So over the last few weeks (YES WEEKS) I’ve slowly started setting my alarm earlier, and even though I didn’t actually LEAVE the house to go to the gym, I made myself get up, mill around the house, check my email.  This morning I actually went to the gym!

Yeah I know… exciting stuff.

This is one of my favorite times of year.  Even though I know we’ll get more snow, and cold… all of the trees are red with buds. Otherwise known as “break-up”, it’s one of the messiest times of year.  Everything is mucky and dirty.  All the piles of snow, and sheets of ice are melting. It’s important to keep the window cleaner full in car. It’s an exciting time of year though, the days are longer (11 hours of daylight now!!), and spring is right around the corner.  I’ll keep you posted on “green-up”, when overnight the landscape transforms from dull and brown, to the brightest, freshest green.  It’s hard to describe.  I’ve never lived in a place where it seems like every plant, tree and grass comes alive at the same time.

Viva Alaska!
