Happy leap day!

If history is any indication, we may already be on the road to violent revolution. Can it be — at long last — that Americans have, simply, had enough? Are we, finally, stepping out to take back our government — and with it, control of our own future?
In case you haven’t heard, the largest beef recall in history came a few days ago.

Those that know me, know I haven’t eaten meat, going on three years. This time the Humane Society did the investigation, and gained the attention needed to get this into the mainstream media. Here is a link to the Humane Society short video.

PETA has been doing these types of investigations for years. And although I certainly don’t agree with all their tactics. They’ve probably got more undercover video of what is really going on than anyone. And I encourage you all to visit these sites, watch Meet Your Meat.
That’s a great starting point, and then really educate yourself about what these animals go through, so you can have a double double with cheese.
Not only is their treatment cruel, their deaths are cruel, their meat is tainted, pumped with growth hormones, antibiotics, and god knows what else, all for YOU the consumer, which creates the demand.
I’m not perfect, and although I haven’t eaten meat in three years, I still enjoy seafood. And although I would love to say I’m Vegan, I know there are animal products in some of the things I eat, and some of the things I don’t mean to eat, but do as hidden ingredients.
It’s not just a health issue, it’s a public safety issue. We’re eating sick meat, which is in turn, making us sick.
** Post Script ** Not only are the animals inhumanly treated from birth, ill and turned into sick meat…. now they are cloning animals, and many strains of beef are genetically modified. Like a lot of our vegetables and fruits too. **
Hopefully I will have something insightful to post this weekend. We received around 6″ of snow last night. It’s nice and sunny now, but only 14F.
Daylight Today : 8:41 a.m. - 5:47 p.m
Sean should be in Switzerland by now. I can’t wait to see some pictures. St. Moritz looks absolutely breathtaking. If you have a chance to google earth it, you should. I can just picture that beautiful valley with all those mountains! :) ::sigh::

Man, I just don’t even know where to begin. For people that are denying we (in the United States) live in a police state, please start doing your research. Tasering people has become a standard practice, instead of something used as a last resort. It should be considered as a last resort in my opinion. Instead, it’s a new fascist abuse that cops can use if you’re not moving fast enough for them. But this video, this kind of treatment, it’s just unforgivable in my opinion. Keep in mind that these deputies KNOW THEY ARE BEING VIDEO TAPED. Not like it’s something caught on a hidden cam.
This kind of abuse makes me sick to my stomach, and tears come to my eyes.
This site is focused on “Urgent” employment… now whether that means someone needs an employee fast, needs an employer fast, or it’s a temporary job, I’m not sure. But it’s a worldwide site. So if you’re an employement agency, or an employee. You can sign up without creating a profile.
Check it out, and see if there’s anything available in your area. Don’t be afraid to post!

Nothern Lights - Wasilla Alaska
Originally uploaded by NastyMcT
I finally got a couple of good aurora shots tonight. I was lucky, and they were out bright. I left the house around 3am to go to WalMARX to get some Zicam (I feel a cold coming on
), looked up, and saw the most gorgeous display of the year. Of course, it’s -15F outside. I snapped a few 30 second or so exposures, before heading out, towards Hatcher Pass. I got one shot up there that I liked, I’ll post it tomorrow. I’m not sure what the wind chill is, but it’s definitely around -30 to -40. I’m sure I didn’t help my cold out much by standing out in this weather… but hey, anything for some good shots!
I wish I could explain the way the aurora looks when you’re standing below it, especially when the winds are blowing pretty strong, and it’s almost like trails of light, blowing through the sky. Watching the lights take form and shape, disappearing, then reappearing. The trailing lights, that look like beautiful ribbons being dropped from the sky. It’s really magical, and one of the things I like most about Alaska.
I really want a wide angle lens however, to capture more of the sky and the shapes. So incredible.
I had to reload my theme, basically deleting it, and reinstalling, because I messed up something in the code with the column width, and was only getting one column on the right instead of two. In my reinstall, I forgot to move my widgets back up, so entrecard, and everything was gone! Oops.
They should be back now, although I will be moving some stuff around and resizing it a bit.
I took a few pictures today, so hopefully I can get motivated to edit them and upload.

Ok…
100% of the vote is in in West Virginia (just to name one state):
|
567 |
52% |
18 |
100% |
NOT ONE VOTE FOR GIULIANI OR PAUL? NOT ONE?
ONLY SLIGHTLY OVER 1000 PEOPLE IN THE ENTIRE STATE OF WEST VIRGINIA VOTED???
THERE ARE 1.8 MILLION PEOPLE IN THAT STATE… AND ONLY 1000 COULD DRAG THEMSELVES TO THE POLL????
FUCKING PATHETIC. I DON’T BELIEVE IT.
I voted for Ron Paul here in Alaska. And when I was watching the return on CNN, and comparing them with the real numbers on adn.com. CNN was THOUSANDS OFF. THOUSANDS. So if I PERSONALLY know, that they’re so off in one state, I have to assume they’re off in every state.
PEOPLE PLEASE WAKE UP!!!!
PLEASE NOTICE THAT EVEN THOUGH PAUL CAME IN THIRD OR HIGHER IN SOME STATES, HE WILL NOT BE MENTIONED IN MAINSTREAM MEDIA.
WHAT DOES THIS SAY TO YOU???
PLEASE GET ACTIVE, PLEASE GET THE WORD OUT ABOUT RON PAUL AND OTHERS BEING OSTRACIZED BY THE PRESS.
Get out and vote in your primary!

I support Ron Paul. But whom every you choose, get out and exercise your right to vote!

They had to come unfreeze my hot water today, I got to sleep in, and by the time they arrived, thawed everything out, and installed two vents. It was really too late to go into work today, so in early tomorrow I’ll go.
The downside I’m already noticing to these new vents into the bathroom is that it’s especially COLD in there now. We have a freestanding heater that heats the whole place. It’s a natural gas stove, that sits towards the front of the house downstairs. It heats the whole place really nicely, but now with that breeze floating around the bottom of the toilet… I just hope it doesn’t cause any problems. Freezing up the toilet etc. Oh joy!
Chatted with Sean for a few minutes today, it was so good to talk with him a little. Other than a few minutes here and there I really haven’t had much contact with him. I know he’s getting a lay of the land, and getting used to a different way of living and treatment from the bars there.
More soon … L
As one would expect in Alaska. It’s really fricking cold. I’m talking -18F tonight. My hot water isn’t working… cold water is fine. So I don’t think the pipes are frozen, but there is some issue with the hot water heater. It’s natural gas, maybe the flame went out, or there is something frozen that won’t allow the hot water to flow. Having no water sucks, but having no hot water is liveable. But man washing my hands is NO FUN. The coldest water in existance is Alaska well water!
About time for bed, I’ve been lazy this weekend. Hopefully this week will be more productive. I have a lot of picture stuff to work on. And Tuesday is a big election day. I’m planning on making it to the polls tomorrow, voting for Ron Paul.
Everyone should get out and vote.
BTW, I’m definitely missing Sean! So are the cats, I think they keep waiting for him to come home. Not by milling around the door or anything. But they’re waiting.
Yay, work tomorrow.

So my site is coming up fine in Firefox, and as a two column in Explorer. Before I was having issues with Firefox (old theme) and now it’s the opposite. :::sigh:::
I’ll keep working on it.
